We’ve recently installed a Tesla V100 PCIe card into a VMware ESXi host. The vGPU driver package installed was a 6.4 version from NVIDIA Enterprise portal site and installed for VMware vSphere 6.0 U3 (Update 3). We’re intending to use the vGPU (aiming for v100-2q profile) in a Horizon View 7.4 environment.
The performance from that card has been disappointing.
The VM in question is a Windows 10 v1709 and experimented with 2 to 4 vCPUs and 8GB RAM. Video playback and various Windows animations have been quite laggy.
The end-goal is to provide a "video editing" capability for our remote video editors. The software package is primarily Adobe Creative Cloud (currently version 2019). The footage/files that we tend to edit is a 1080i XDCAM MXF media.
The ESXi host in question is a HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server with a dual CPU (@ 2.30GHz), 256 GB RAM, iSCSI connection to a NetApp FAS storage.
The Tesla V100 card currently has the ECC memory disabled.
Please advise if there are any tweaks or settings to look for to optimize the VM.
