I was 10 at the time - and thought I was supposedly an early reader I somehow doubt I read the Siggraph proceedings back then … :-)

1984 was my first SIGGRAPH, memorable for seven papers from Pixar, some seminal. Really, it’s hard to pick just three papers overall!

I’m into oldies. Kajiya’s “The Rendering Equation.” Whitted’s “An Improved Illumination Model for Shaded Display.” Veach’s chapter 9, “Multiple Importance Sampling.” (basically same as Pete’s 1995 reference, only longer)
