Transfer function


Is the transfer function as function of only one channel? And can that channel be a channel other than channel 0?

The programming guide seems to indicate that it is a function of only the density channel which I interpret to mean channel 0. However, I would like to fill channel 1 with float data and use the transfer function to color the rendering using that channel. Is there are way to do this?


The transfer function itself is created independently of any channel.
However, since GVDB 1.0 is only able to render channel #0, that is where the transfer function is currently used. In the future we hope to offer rendering from any channel, at which point the transfer function would apply to the current channel being rendered. Rendering from channel #1 is not possible with GVDB 1.0 (although the code is there so you’re welcome to modify).
