TX1 Module Cost vs Shield

Hello,

I am interested in the TX1 system. The cost of the development kit is not badly priced but before I purchase it, I am considering long-term production costs. The module alone on Silicon Highway cost £303 ex vat per a unit (you can get slightly lower with a higher unit order). I am comparing the cost of the module to the Shield which currently costs £139 which also uses TX1. Is there anyway to create a device using TX1 for equal or less than the price of a shield?

Hello Kayccc,

I have searched around and I was unable to find any sellers who would sell the module for less than around £300.

Is there a way I can cut-out the middle-man and go directly to receiving a quote from Nvidia? How is Nvidia able to sell the shield at £139 with the same module and still make a profit?
