Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
Release:        14.04
Codename:       trusty

How to reproduce:

  1. Click apply defaults in KDE SYSTEM SETTINGS/SETUP DESKTOP EFFECTS/ADVANCED, so that way system will pick up OpenGL 2.0 as the default rendering system.

  2. Then press “back” “<-” slider and try to continuously install appearance themes like mouse cursors, windows decorations, playing with windows, open up few to download plasmoids or widgets from the INTERNET through KDE SYSTEM SETTINGS.

  3. Install “HELIOS” window decoration theme with plasma desktop theme called the same.

  4. So lower line under window title starting flicker and glitch when you moving mouse around few windows and point and click some buttons which will appear windows dialog to download some KDE deco stuff which will too starts flicker that way and even firefox then too.

  5. Switching to OpenGL 3.0 as the rendering system for KDE 4.13.3 fixing that strange glitch flicker occurrence for me.

  6. Anyway here is my system log attached generated by nvidia-bug-report.sh, sorry but I have no clue how to force “startx – -logverbose 6” and there is a “-- -” syntax which is looks like strange weird command to me so I just run simple nvidia-bug-report.sh and it’s complete OK since I have no flicker or glitch these day after playing with rendering switch from OpenGL 2.0 to OpenGL3.0.

7, Also I did some changes to system packages in the meantime yesterday, so these glitch flicker problem might be related to changes in system, but anyway no reason to try to reproduce these behavior cause it fine now for a more then 12 hours.

  1. Yesterday I am digging with KDE themes and appearance setup whole day so that might be reproduce flickering bug on OpenGL 2.0 rendering system quite easily for you.

  2. I am sorry just know how to properly start “startx – -logverbose 6” and does these command is right in terms of syntax, I mean “-- -” is it possible to write such command to bash ^_^? Since I thought these start looking for me like this “startx --logverbose 6 or startx -logverbose 6” Is there some kind of mess with “-- -” going in to?

  3. Anyway to reproduce these bug I am still may be in need of switching back to default rendering system for KDE OpenGL 2.0 instead of what I select there for now 3.0, so if you can give me more detail information on how to do “startx – -logverbose 6” in detailed steps I try to reproduce and provide more detailed tests with info within the nvidia-bug-report.sh!

P.S. I just wonder how to do these steps for example do I need to write in such thing Ctrl+Alt+Fx:
sudo killall Xorg && startx – -logverbose 6
or && sudo startx – -logverbose 6
??? If you can advice any tricky commands for providing more information in plane text like console stdoutput I can do these. Sorry I am just newbie in Linux so I can not imagine what draw calls are probably responsible for flicker / glitch to start on my system.
