Ubuntu 16.04 input lock (?) using x-server and lightdm - Gtx 1060 6gb

I’m transitioning from an RX-480 to a GTX-1060 on my main box, and I’ve opted to install the proprietary driver.

I’ve blacklisted nouveau, removed all of my old AMD drivers, and installed the proprietary drivers via commandline using the script provided on website.

My xorg logs indicate that the driver’s loading properly, everything on my screen is working as it should. When I run startx the system boots my desktop just fine, but it refuses any and all input.

I’ve been consistently getting this error message when I start up X:

systemd-logind[ {SOME NUMBER, ALWAYS CHANGES} ]: Failed to enable subscription: Launch helper exited with unknown return code 1

systemd-logind[ {SAME NUMBER AS BEFORE} ]: Failed to fully start up daemon: Input/output error

and glxinfo returns:

Error: unable to open display
