Ubuntu Business Risks

Hello,

We have adapted the Jetson Orin NX/Nano core board based on a customized motherboard and developed customized software services based on SDK. These are all based on Jetpack 6.0 (Ubuntu 22.04). Does there exist any commercial risks or licensing requirements for our products sold?

Users/developers are expected to deploy Jetson with software pre-installed and configured for use in end products, please consult the EULA’s included in JetPack or the Software License Agreement

NVIDIA JetPack also includes a reference file system derived from Ubuntu. This reference file system includes packages bundled with their corresponding copyrights and licenses terms. Review the open source license terms and the Canonical Intellectual property rights policy before use. Contact Canonical for any questions regarding the Canonical Intellectual Property Rights Policy.

I will suggest that the main point of most of the licenses will be relating to not being able to claim ownership of someone else’s content, and making anything used available as source code (you might look at how Canonical makes available kernel source as an example; L4T R36.x uses that mainline kernel as well). There are variations on that, e.g., for derived works which modify an original work. Your original work is always yours.

One thing in the world today to consider is that the strong encryption tools are not made for shipping to some countries. So you’d want to consider that depending on where in the world you ship as to whether you are shipping something restricted (this has nothing to do with NVIDIA’s software).
