Ubuntu retain native display after installing RTX2060

Hello, I’m wanting to install an RTX2060 to run DIGITS. I installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu and physically installed the card, but when I booted the machine it switched to the 2060 and went to 640x480, which is completely unusable. I tried to switch resolution but it said it was an unknown video card and wouldn’t let me.

Then I took the card out and tried to install the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-430.14.run file but it said it couldn’t find a card. Which makes sense. I tried to install anyway, but then it went south with some problem with GCC versions.

Anyway, my question is: is there a way to configure Ubuntu to not switch video cards when I install the 2060, and to simply stick with the onboard graphics?

Thank you,
