I got WD - BLACK SN850X 2TB Internal SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe for the Jetson AGX Orin. After installation the device won’t boot up. The power LED and the Fan turns on and off but there is nothing on the display.
Dump the log, please:
I connected minicom but it is not printing out any logs. When reboot the jetson, the connection to minicom is lost. So I don’t know how minicom can print the bootloader logs.
I can get into the UEFI setup by pressing the ESC key and when the SSD is connected it is not even possible to get into UEFI.
The model of SSD is WD BLACK SN850X NVME M.2 - 1 TB. I tried it with 2 TB as well before.
Give a try to other SSD or maybe a USB drive.
I have tried another SSD. It is now a Samsung 980 pro 1 TB. Still the same behavior as before.
I have also found out that the Jetson AGX Orin does not print bootloader logs by default to UART. So I have enabled that. Here I have attached the bootloader logs without SSD and with SSD
jetson-agx-orin-log-without-ssd.txt (74.0 KB)
jetson-agx-orin-log-with-ssd.txt (28.3 KB)
I see only a bunch of garbled characters in the second log.
The garbled characters are coming on from line 18 like in the screenshot. After that, the device just restarts itself.
There are some garbled characters in some parts of the first log without ssd. But it does not causes the device to restart.
How did you flash the device with SSD connected?
Does USB drive work?
No. We did not do any flashing.
It is just that the device is not booting when there is a NVME SSD connected.
Is it because it is trying to boot up from SSD when it is connected?
There is only 3GB of space left in the emmc storage. Could that be an issue?
Sounds likely.
You should check the UEFI boot menu, but I don’t really have I idea why you cannot enter it.
I don’t think it’s related.
I checked it. The thing is the device is not even able to get into uefi while the ssd is connected. I pressed ESC key several times but not going to UEFI menu at all.
Is it a DevKit?
Ask the vendor for help if it’s not.
