Unable to open nvidia settings on Fedora, "V-CONTROL extension not found on this Display."

I installed nvidia driver and cuda tools on Fedora 34, I can run nvidia-smi fine, however unable to open nvidia-settings - getting this error:

“WARNING: NV-CONTROL extension not found on this Display.
ERROR: Unable to load info from any available system”

My PC uses NVIDIA 3060 card. I verified I run X11 session, and nvidia driver is loaded.
Output from nvidia-smi:
“NVIDIA-SMI 495.29.05 Driver Version: 495.29.05 CUDA Version: 11.5”
Please help resolve.
