First, can Windows 11 be host instead of Ubuntu and by that I mean has anyone actually done it?
Jetson Thor shows up as Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed) under USB controllers in windows device which I presume is why SDK Manager, Target Hardware “Could not detect a board”.
Thanks for any help. This thing is going back tomorrow if I can’t get it going soon as its been a week just trying to get the basic setup….
Hi,
Please prepare a native 20.04 later ubuntu (not virtual machine) and install sdk manager to flash your device.
Thanks
Thanks so much. I very much appreciate it!
I’d like to put it another way just to be clear and directly respond to the question I ask re windows… Indeed…
“The user MUST prepare a native 20.04 later Ubuntu as Windows IS NOT A SUPPORTED as a host for the Jetston Thor despite the fact that there is a Windows version of the SDK Manager app”
Can you tell me how I submit a doc change as this is not documented.
Great hardware but the little documentation is incomplete and just utterly wrong and misleading in many areas. Some other examples…
- No one seems to have been successful with the USB drive approach; the SDK manager approach is a requirement and it must be Ubuntu, not windows, as mentioned.
- I’ve figured this out, but as evidenced by the many posts on the topic, you should have a clear diagram of the ports and functionality if they are not to be labeled on the hardware itself, because they each have extremely specific usage (power, debugging, host input, boot, accessory - there is only one prot applicable for each). Bits of components from older machines/kits are obviously reused in different versions and yet the functionality they provide changes so it’s quite confusing.
- Some doc are just wrong and inconsistent. Referring to the wrong usb ports and even buttons (some doc even refer to the middle button as the power button rather than the left button and this is not in the context of rebooting, it claims it is the power button).
Need to run some AI on the docs. :)
I’m just giving honest feedback, I hope it is not taken the wrong way.
Thanks again!
Hello, I try to flash my Thor with Ubuntu24.04, the SDK can`t detect the target board
Thanks for any help
just want to elaborate more points here in case of confusion. I know this already confused you.
The sdkmanager is a all-in-one tool. It does not flash just Jetson but also other kind of SDK.
The problem here is “sdkmanager supports on Windows” does not mean everything is supported.
There is a table in above website.
And for Jetson software, basically just “Jetpack” to refer to.
and as you could see, Windows machine is not a supported OS to install Jetpack.
