Is there any plan, initiative, or opportunity for RTX 4000 users with a multi GPU system to use NVLink communication protocol over the cards USB-C and/or Display Port external connectors?
Cards which do not support validated drivers used in main stream consumer applications have NVLink support directly on the cards. RTX 4000 users, on the other hand, do not have this port even though the GPU’s support them internally and multi GPU configuration for RTX 4000 is relatively common.
Even 1.2GB per second is better than nothing. More than that, leveraging the cards surplus Display Port connectors would be even better.
