USB ports lost with Quectel EM05

Hi,
we are using a Jetson Orin NX with a Auvidea JNX42 carrier board and a Quectel EM05 LTE module. On booting from a powered off state all USB ports and the LTE module itself are dead with the following error in dmesg:

tegra-xusb 3610000.xhci: controller error detected

If the system is then rebooted (e.g. via SSH) all USB ports and the LTE module work just fine. I attached both dmesg outputs for boot and reboot.
boot (67.7 KB)
reboot (64.1 KB)

Anyone have an idea for this behavior?

Hi,
There’s an overlay for updating USB firmware. Please apply it and check if it helps:
Jetson/L4T/r35.3.x patches - eLinux.org

[USB] nvidia-agx-orin-usb-connection-issues

I tried this, the tegra-xusb error does not show up anymore now and both the Quectel module and all other USB devices are now visible on booting with lsusb. However, connecting to a network is still only possible when rebooting and never on a cold boot.

According to dmesg the module still reconnects multiple times while cold booting.
boot2 (80.8 KB)

Hi,
Please set up Orin NX module + Orin Nano carrier board with Jetpack 5.1.1 and try to replicate the issue. If you can observe it on developer kit, please share the steps so that we can give it a try.
