VNC server on TK1

I’m having trouble getting tightVNCserver work on TK1.
Ive installed ubuntu-desktop and tightvncserver on TK1, and open session in the easiest way:
$tightvncserver -nolisten tcp :1

but when I login it from remote pc via tightvnc - client, I dont see my TK1 desktop, only gray window :(

Can anyone share a way how to do it?

This is a known issue with this VNC server on Ubuntu.
Have you tried the package x11vnc ?

configuration file for startup:
start on login-session-start
/usr/bin/x11vnc -xkb -noxrecord -noxfixes -noxdamage -auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:0 -display :0 -passwd “” -forever -bg -o /var/log/x11vnc.log
end script

Just to add - I log in through Putty, run x11vnc and then use the IP::Port to log-in via tightvnc and that works well. I did add x11vnc to the startup programs but it doesn’t seem to be working, so go this route via SSH first. I’m a relative newbie to this so I’m sure there are better ways, but this one works for me.

I installed x11vnc then got in through realvnc viewer using the name it generated. Thanks for the tip!

you may as well consider x2goserver as a more performative solution comparing with vnc
