Volume ray casting by GPU looking for GPU based high quality interactive volume rendering

I’m looking for GPU based high quality interactive volume rendering solution suitable to render mid size CT datasets (512x512x1000 12bit). The best I could find was Voreen 2.5 still it is an order of magnitude too slow with acceptable quality settings; definitely NVIDIA must have a better VR solution then available CPU based VR; so please provide the reference to testable binaries instead of marketing/research materials.

Thanks in advance,
Stefan

Thanks, I’m aware very well about this proprietary CPU based VR; in fact it’s the one I would like to match by GPU based VR solution. GPU is designed for 3D visualization so I’ve expected to find such match but so far nothing even close at least for interactive image quality.
