Hello Forum
We’re having problems using a wifi module WFM200S022XNA3 (Silicon Labs wf200). Connected to Orin NX SPI3 bus.
We’re using the latest wfx kernel driver 2.14.1 .
Latest firmware wfm_wf200_C0.sec .
dmesg output of wfx driver is:
[ 11.776870] wfx: Silicon Labs 2.14.1
[ 11.790289] wfx-spi spi3.0: chip mute. Bus configuration error or chip wasn’t reset?
[ 11.790305] wfx-spi: probe of spi3.0 failed with error -5
The same error log is printed when explicitly binding spi3 to wfx:
echo spi3.0 > /sys/bus/spi/drivers/wfx-spi/bind
DeviceTree entry:
spi@3230000 {
/delete-node/ spi@0; // delete spi@0 tegra-spidev to enable wfx@0 .
wfx@0 {
compatible = “silabs,wf200”;
pinctrl-names = “default”;
reg = <0>; // Chip Select 0
wakeup-gpios = <&gpio 144 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; // gpio09
reset-gpios = <&gpio 106 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; // gpio11
interrupts-extended = <&gpio 105 IRQ_TYPE_EDGE_RISING>; // gpio01
spi-max-frequency = <42000000>;
};
};
The spi3 bus looks ok. When spidev (original Nvidia spi@0) works , spidev_test works fine on it. The same as on SPI1 that we use.
The pin numbers are correct (verified with a scope).
We appreciate the help.
Thanks.
Hi noam.le,
Are you using the devkit or custom board for Orin NX?
What’s the Jetpack version in use?
Have you verified the SPI loopback test before porting the WiFi module on SPI bus?
Please share the full dmesg for further check.
You can also add more debug message in your custom driver to check the cause of this error.
Hi KevinFFF
We’re using Jetpack6.2.1 with our carrier board .
spi looptest works fine when the wifi reset-pin is 0. When it’s toggled to 1 it pulls the MISO down, not letting it be active-high. This behaviour happeds both when spidev controlls cs0, or when wfx (the WIFI driver) controlls it.
The relevant dmesg (when loading wfx)
[ 9437.069319] cfg80211: Loading compiled-in X.509 certificates for regulatory database

[ 9437.130710] wfx-spi: probe of spi3.0 failed with error -5
Line marked ‘A’ shows wfx connecting the spi bus setting params.
Line marked ‘B’ shows wfx doesn’t see any spi slave. The scope shows the MOSI isn’t used when wfx is loaded.
Working on the wfx debug..
Please check if you have configured the pinmux for the pins with SPI usages correctly.
You may also check the reset pin behavior of the WiFi module or control it manually.
