What happened with CUDA 13.2 on DGX Spark?

It was months since CUDA 13.2 was announced with improvements for DGX Spark and I was waiting all that time for an official driver release. CUDA is already at 13.4 still no news for the Spark owners. What’s going on? Anyone has an idea?

+1 yes, what happened Nvidia?

If you really need the new version, you could install the driver and CUDA manually.

If you are worried about compatibility, Appendix A of the 595.99.02 driver’s README shows that NVIDIA GB10 is supported, so it is officially supported.

595.99.02 is the latest “Recommended/Certified” driver. You can also try installing the 615.71.09 driver from the “New Feature Branch,” which supports CUDA 13.4.

If you are not comfortable with using runfiles, you can also try adding Nvidia’s repository to your package manager by following this guide.

Of course, manually installing the driver and CUDA means that you need to manage them yourself. DGX OS comes with many things pre-configured, so I imagine it will take some time to overwrite/adjust those configurations. It may not be a very smooth process.

I think the confusing part here is that the official documentation currently leaves a gap specifically for Spark.

The DGX OS 7.6 release notes list the Spark stack around the R580 branch and CUDA 13.0 Update 3, while CUDA 13.2 maps to R595.

At the same time, the DGX OS 8 documentation currently lists DGX Spark support as a future release, so simply moving a Spark to the newer generic driver branch does not look like something I would assume is supported yet.

It would be useful if NVIDIA could clarify two things for Founders Edition owners:

  1. What is the currently supported post-OTA DGX Spark software tuple — kernel, GPU driver and CUDA toolkit — rather than only the ISO baseline?

  2. What is the supported migration path/timeline for Spark from R580 / CUDA 13.0 to R595+ and CUDA 13.2 or newer?

That would help avoid users manually replacing the Canonical-signed Spark driver just to follow the generic CUDA release cadence.

I would rather have an explicit Spark-specific supported combination from NVIDIA than infer compatibility from the general CUDA driver matrix.

100% want to be on most current supported / listed drivers for Spark.. @eugr_nv

We are working to transition DGX Spark users to Ubuntu 26.04, including updates to NVIDIA driver and CUDA stacks. Users who choose to update the driver before we complete our standard packaging, testing, and validation process can follow Canonical’s manual installation guidance. The latest CUDA releases are also available as containers in the NVIDIA NGC Catalog.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

13.4.2 on 26.04 would be Highly appeared! Soon I hope… :-)

Can we have the new driver work with 64kb pages?

When I boot into the 7.0.0-1019-nvidia-64k kernel and the latest driver from this thread I will receive an MMU fault.

If I apply the patch from the following thread and disable the new memory pools then things will stabilize:
