What is supported in DX11

Hi.

It seems DX11 is not officially supported by the aftermath SDK, but the code seems to still be there, and initialization seems to work fine.

I just get a generic error when calling _GetData.

Is anything working on DX11 at all?

Aftermath SDK offer basic support for D3D11 according to the link. I am not sure about the issue you have meet, but maybe you can share some repro-able sample to us?

Its a bit unclear to me what “basic support” means?

  • Is it supported getting markers after a crash in DX11?
  • Is generating crash dumps supported in DX11?

Is there any sample code available for DX11?
My crash happens in a larger project, so its a bit involved to extract.

Okay, I figured out what was the problem. I wasn’t running the aftermath monitor, apparently that is required for getting marker info.

You can find the “basic support” in Aftermath SDK’s Readme.md:

D3D

  • Nsight Aftermath is only fully supported for D3D12 devices. Only basic support
    with a reduced feature set (no API resource tracking and no shader address
    mapping) is available for D3D11 devices.
  • Is it supported getting markers after a crash in DX11?
    Yes, as you already figured out.

  • Is generating crash dumps supported in DX11?
    Yes.

  • Is there any sample code available for DX11?
    I am sorry, but the answer is No.
