I’m currently evaluating a setup using NVIDIA/Mellanox network adapters(C8180) and I have a question about module compatibility and configuration:

My questions

  1. Which NVIDIA/Mellanox network adapter models officially support LPO optical modules?

  2. For models that support LPO modules, do you need special configuration (firmware version, BIOS settings, mlxconfig or other tool parameters) to enable LPO support?

  3. Could you share the exact configuration steps or commands to enable and verify LPO module support on one of the supported adapters?

  4. Are there any limitations or caveats (such as lane configuration, power budget, cable/connector compatibility, alt-mode settings) specific to LPO modules with NVIDIA hardware?
