Why doesn't the Jetson Linux kernel update directly to the latest kernel version?

Why is the Jetson Linux kernel update incremental, such as from 5.10.120 to 5.10.121, instead of directly updating to the latest version from kernel.org?

Hello,

Your topic will be best served in the Jetson category.

I will move this post over for visibility.

Cheers,
Tom

There are dependencies on the low layer drivers, libraries and board support package, thus only do rhe minor upgrade for critical issue fix.
The major update will be coorrosponding with Ubuntu version.

Thanks

I want to add that Xavier handles up to L4T R35.x, and not L4T R36.x. There is out of tree content for R35.x. R36.x is still more or less a developer preview, but that is where out of tree content is being removed and it is evolving there to use the mainline kernel. You’d need Orin to use R36.x.
