Why is vi2's low-latency mode turned off by default?

Hello, since I didn’t see anyone asking this question, I thought I might post it here. VI’s low-latency mode seems to outperform its non low-latency mode, so why is the low-latency mode turned off by default? Are there any specific reasons? Thank!
