why Metric APIs from the header cupti_metrics.h are not supported for devices with compute capability 7.5 ? Is it because the hardware counter design has changed?
The software design has changed.
Refer the Migration to the Profiling API section in the CUPTI document.
Refer Metric Mapping Table and Event Mapping Table to find equivalent metrics.
