Windows 7 no CUDA-capable device is detected

I am observing a similar problem.

I hava a Windows 7 laptop with a NVidia Quadra M2000M card. The CUDA GPUs website lists a compute capablity of 5.0. I installed the latest Nvidia graphic drivers (388.16), CUDA v8.0 and cudnn v6 for Cuda 8.

deviceQuery shows the following error:

C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\CUDA Samples\v8.0\bin\win64\Release\deviceQuery.exe Starting…

CUDA Device Query (Runtime API) version (CUDART static linking)

cudaGetDeviceCount returned 38
→ no CUDA-capable device is detected
Result = FAIL

When I run deviceQuery, a Windows alert pops up: 'Das Gerät “NVIDIA Quadro M2000M” ist kein Wechselgerät und kann daher nicht abgedockt oder entfernt werden." (The device NVIDIA Quadro M2000M is not a pluggable device and therefore it cannot be unplugged or removed.)

nvidia-smi.exe gives me the following output:

“c:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI\nvidia-smi.exe”

Any help would be appreciated!

You installed 388.16 but nvidia-smi shows 376.51 ?

Just mentioned this, too. It seems, that the CUDA installation overwrites the drivers. I will reinstall them and unselect drivers in the CUDA installation. I will report the result here.

Reinstalling the latest graphic card driver and resintalling cude with unselected installation of device drivers fixed the problem.

Thank you very much for your help!
