So this is my first post on these forums… I’ve tried finding an appropriate section for this but I can’t seem to find any linux section on here so I’ve defaulted to the Cuda on Linux section in hopes that someone else has seen this error here.
System:
ubuntu 64bit 9.04 Jaunty
ubuntu 64bit 9.10 Karmic
Nvidia hardware:
Nvidia nvs 140m
General Hardware:
IBM T61 Thinkpad
2gb mem
160gig HD
Nvidia Software:
180.xx linux drivers
185.xx linux drivers
190.42 linux drivers
The Problem:
During normal use Xorg randomly restarts and spits the following into the GDM log files…
Backtrace:
0: /usr/bin/X(xorg_backtrace+0x26) [0x4f00c6]
1: /usr/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x41) [0x4852c1]
2: /lib/libc.so.6 [0x7f5315ddf530]
3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so [0x7f5312fdd157]
4: /usr/bin/X [0x5388db]
5: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libdbe.so [0x7f5313a8b495]
6: /usr/bin/X(compPositionWindow+0x72) [0x501002]
7: /usr/bin/X(miSlideAndSizeWindow+0x1b2) [0x4e8012]
8: /usr/bin/X(compResizeWindow+0xb6) [0x500de6]
9: /usr/bin/X(ConfigureWindow+0xa7f) [0x43a7df]
10: /usr/bin/X(ProcConfigureWindow+0x87) [0x44d7d7]
11: /usr/bin/X(Dispatch+0x394) [0x44e174]
12: /usr/bin/X(main+0x3b5) [0x434085]
13: /lib/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xfd) [0x7f5315dcaabd]
14: /usr/bin/X [0x433509]
Saw signal 11. Server aborting.
This is horrible as I usually have multiple documents open which may or may-not be fully saved. I have a feeling this is a Nvidia driver error but I don’t have the know-how to test for it. If anyone needs any other data about my system please let me know.

I don’t know about your problem, but I think this is the best forum for it: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/forumdispl…&forumid=14
Or ubuntus own forum.
Good luck
