3050 GPU not recognized on Dell XPS laptop running ubuntu 20.04

I loaded a fresh ubuntu 20.04 install on a new dell xps laptop loaded with windows. In windows, I can see the 3050 GPU functioning. But on the ubuntu side, only the integrated graphics shows.
nvidia-smi can’t see any devices, although /proc/driver/nvidia/./gpus/0000:01:00.0/information can see the gpu (or atleast has driver knowledge of it, not sure if there is a difference)

Additional info:
Secure boot is off in windows,
Running nvidia-driver-525-open
Looks like ‘RmInitAdapter’ is failing based on the logs?

Wrong driver. Please use Software & Updates to switch to the non “-open” driver version.
