Boot rootfs from USB drive or SD

I haven’t been able to test yet but it looks like the same issue exists. Cboot isn’t enumerating the mass storage devices properly. It’s finding the hubs and testing them for mass storage which of course will fail. It never goes on to the connected devices to find the actual USB mass storage devices that may be connected to the hub. So it looks like you still need to have the APP partition on the sdcard or emmc. Having said that you do not need to have the rootfs partition on the sdcard or …

I’m also having trouble booting the Jetson Xavier NX into emmc when I try to boot it into the usb device in the usbtosata interface.

However, I noticed that if I connected the usbstick directly without going through the usb hub, it would boot into the usb device.
In the article below , I think @WayneWWW also confirmed that the usb pendrive boots up.

No, we are just using the rel-32.4.2. I think the difference here is that you are using USB<>SATA adapter but we are using only pure USB pendrive.

@TWarren know when the USB hub support discussed below will be available?

We’re working on it, and hope to have USB hub support out in a (near) future release. Note that the kernel DOES support the hub, so you can put data and/or your rootfs there as you’ve stated, just not boot directly from it (still have to boot from SD-card or TFTP)
