Difference between 3D distance image and 2D distance image in Lidar sample

Hi, all,

I’m new in this field. I’m trying to implement lidar accumulator sample. Can anyone give me some explanations about what the 3d and 2d distance images are? From the images that showed on the screen, I can hardly tell the difference. I’m supposing the distance is the Euclidean distance between one point in the point cloud in 3D coordinate and the original point, which represents the pixel value in the generated images. But why there are two definition?

In addition, is there any quick guide to DriveWorks? Or some study materials? I’m interested in exploring this.

Thanks in advance!

Dear sf2584,

Could you please refer to DriveWorks docs in /usr/local/driveworks-0.6/doc/ and /usr/local/driveworks-0.6/doc/nvdwx_html/NVIDIA_DriveWorks_DevGuide.pdf in your DPX2 or HostPC for your topics? Thanks.
