infoROM is corrupted at gpu warning

Dear colleagues,
I’ve just got this message after installing Nvidia driver for Ubuntu 18.04. I’m the second owner of this GPU therefore I cannot say when it started.
Unfortunately I haven’t found anything conclusive about this message, does somebody know if it can be a driver issue or hardware fault?

Thanks in advance,

If this message is displayed after suspend/resume, it’s mostly harmless, I think. If displayed after boot, can sometimes be fixed by reflashing the vbios.

Hi Generix,
Thanks for your reply!
It is happening after boot, so do you know what is the impact of this issue?
I’m not planning to reflash if this is not blocking the card to work. I’m using it only for machine learning.
Thanks and regards

Concrete info about the inforom is hard to come by, did some research on that some time ago but forgot the most of it. IIRC, it stores info about defective hw clusters, e.g. dead video memory cells so that not the whole card fails if just one memory cell fails. So for a reliable working card in the long run a functional inforom is necessary. So if you get some inexplainable failings in computation, you should reflash.
