Installing CUDA v9.1 fails on GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

While attempting to install cuda using the cuda_9.1.85_win10.exe installer, after the “System Check” phase, it skips straight to “Options”. Then it shows a red ‘X’ and says “NVIDIA Installer failed”, followed by a long list of components whose status’ are “Not Installed”, such as:

  • CUBLAS Development
  • CURAND Runtime
  • Visual Profiler
  • CUPTI

…etc.

Perhaps you haven’t met the requirements spelled out in the windows install guide. Barring that, usually an analysis of the installer logs is required. Here’s a recent example:
