Hi,

We are developing a driver for Orin, the sensor provides 9248x6944 video at 4fps, using 4 CSI lanes. We are setting each lane to work at 800Mbps.

Some comments:

  1. Since the lanes are < 1.5Gbps, it shouldn’t be a problem with deskew calibration as mentioned in other posts.
  2. We have tested several lane polarities, without any success. However, when setting polarity = 7 or 5, we get only status:0x00000040 continuously (no 44 status at all).
  3. Already boosted the clocks without success.
  4. The issue happens in both Jetpack 5.0.2 and 5.1.1.
  5. If we change cil_settletime to 6, then we get status:0x06000000 and status:0x0e000000.

My understanding is that these errors refer to NVCSI_INTR_FLAG_CIL_INTR0_DATA_LANE_ERR1_SOT_MB (0x00000040), and NVCSI_INTR_FLAG_CIL_INTR0_DPHY_DESKEW_CALIB_ERR_LANE0 (0x06000000), it would be great to have an explanation of what causes the issue in order to debug it further since the TRM and the code are not very explicit.

Also, in terms of getting closer to capture, which error is better? DATA_LANE_ERR1 or DESKEW_CALIB_ERR.

the error code 0x44 (or, 0x40) indicate there’re more than one bit error has detected on data-lane.
it just means there are bunch of interrupts happening, it’s not really an error to crash the capture pipeline.

may I know which CSI brick you’re using? I do see some issues for 4-lane sensor on CSI-C.

Hi, thanks for replying.

We are using the first two CSI blocks (A and B). 2 data lanes of block A, the clock input from block A, and 2 lanes of block B, everything as explained in the D-PHY configurations table of the Orin datasheet.

I see a ton of status:0x00000040 and alike and no frames are grabbed from the sensor. Could you recommend anything to debug that error either from Software or Hardware?

FYI,
the interrupt status 0x40, is toggle by intr_cil_data_lane_sot_mb_err1_b.
as mentioned, this is error due to more than one bit error detected on the lane [A/B] sync word. where the “_b” at the end means its lane B.
so, it’s due to sync words have errors.

could you please double check the data-rate, don’t you mentioned it’s 4-lane config in the beginning?

Yes, the sensor is in a mode that outputs up to 800Mbps per lane. We will try to lower the data rate. But even so, do you know if there is any other configurable parameter (inside the device tree or even internal I2C registers) that could cause the sync word issue?

Yes, we are modifying the pix_clk_hz to also match the sensor datarate, but still no success.
Would you know of something else that could help debug what exactly is not being processed by the SoC? We already flashed the image with debug but the information is basically the same as what we know so far.
