Jetson Orin Nano Encrypted RootFs Black Screen

Hi,

I’m using a Jetson Orin Nano Devkit with JetPack SDK 5.1.2 and BSP 35.4.1. A Ubuntu 20.04 Linux host. OpTee from https://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/l4t/r35_release_v1.0/sources/public_sources.tbz2. Samsung 960 Pro NVME.

I am trying to get disk encryption working with the default/test fuse keys with the OpTee image generated by example.sh on an NVME before I then get it working with custom keys with secure boot enabled. Everything appears to correctly flash, but I am left with a Jetson that boots to NVME with a blinking cursor followed by a black screen and then it restarts and repeats. I’ve copied the commands and the output below.

My thoughts that I am unsure about are that I keep seeing “Assuming zero filled SBK key”, which I am unsure is what is expected. Should I be specifying an SBK key with -v somewhere?

I’m not sure I have flashed the OpTee image to the EKB partition either correctly or at all, is there a way to check?

Perhaps I have missed something else along the way, any help is appreciated, thanks.

This looks the most relevant, but I am unsure as to why this error should occur as I thought I was using the OpTee default img created by example.sh which uses the default key. it looks you’ve not updating EKS image correctly, or, there’s something wrong to create an encrypted rootfs for image flashing.
please double check you had this utility installed. i.e. $ sudo apt-get install cryptsetup.

I think my issue here was that I didn’t have the Jetson-Orin-Nano-Devkit plugged in while I was generating images.

The solution is to not swap the eks_t234.img file when flashing an unfused device.

here’s an FYI,
EKB (Encrypted Binary Blob) stores two keys, one is the kernel encryption key (sym_key_file), and another one is the LUKS key (sym2_key_file) for disk encryption support.
LUKS disk encryption support with a specific key. it’s script file, gen_ekb.py to generate an EKS image, (i.e. eks_t234.img file). also, in the developer guide, [Tool for EKB Generation] in the OP-TEE section, that sym2.key is equivalent to ekb.key
