NVIDIA 515 - RTX 3060 - GPU has fallen off the bus

On my RTX 3060, NVIDIA Settings PowerMizer mode set to “Maximum Performance” doesn’t solve it (it keeps “falling off the bus”) (and stays frozen ever after).
I have similar freeze issues on windows that also require me to hard reset the computer, but no logs.

Disabling the nvidia driver entirely stops the freezes, but then graphics are significantly slower and buggy.

I have a GA-Z97P-D3 motherboard whose bios hasn’t received an update since 2015, so bios updates are no help.
