nvidia-drivers-340.96 and kernel 4.6.x

I have this

03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation ION VGA (rev b1)
        Subsystem: ZOTAC International (MCO) Ltd. ION VGA
        Kernel driver in use: nvidia
        Kernel modules: nvidia

I understand nvidia-drivers-340.96 is latest for it. Any hope to build it against kernel 4.6.x ? It seems nouveau is not an option as it does not support HDMI audio. :(

I downloaded nvidia-304.131-k4.6.patch.gz and either it is corrupt or there is something wrong with my gzip … the patch file is zero bytes. :(
