Fresh new Ubuntu install, I can’t update my graphics card drivers.
It says:
W: GPG error: Index of /compute/cuda/repos/ubuntu2004/x86_64 InRelease: The following signatures couldn’t be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY A4B469963BF863CC
E: The repository ‘||EDIT: The above link was here as well, but new users are only allowed to post one link|| InRelease’ is not signed.

(The repository was picked by Ubuntu, not me.)

Yes… I know, it’s an nvidia .com website issue. The Chat support people (Windows only) insisted that I needed to come here and report it.

Well, technically I did have 3 “Additional Driver” options to pick from:
NVIDIA binary driver - version 340.108 (proprietary-tested)
NVIDIA driver metapackage from nvidia-driver-390 (proprietary)
NVIDIA Server Driver metapackage from nvidia-driver-418-server (proprietary)

I chose the proprietary-tested, assuming that that one probably wouldn’t cause Gnome to crash and burn.

Help?

I really don’t know why Ubuntu enabled an external nvidia repo. If you don’t want to install cuda, you should rather disable it in Software&Updates.
Furthermore, to get the correct driver, please add the graphics driver ppa
https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
and install the 470 driver in Software&Updates.

I think it’s pretty common to link out for high end graphics drivers, but I dunno. It gave me four options, so I chose the “tested” version. …?
