If there is a better serving recipe for this model that can provide higher quality and/or faster performance, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share a link or point me in the right direction!

The test results are as follows.

That’s slow…

Completed in 2973.5s

And tokens usage is on the high side as well, I’m sure there might be a good/better recipe coming up from Eugr for this!

Check prefix caching - without it any multi-turn workflow is dead

It’s looking like thinking was turned on.
PILCOTHINK, could you please share, how did you run?

If it’s possible, I want to try with thinking false.

I got this working today on my Asus Ascent GX10 single unit.

¡muchas gracias!

Any reason why you’re using qwen3_xml?

"qwen3_coder": (
    "qwen3_engine_tool_parser",
    "Qwen3EngineToolParser",
),

"qwen3_xml": (
    "qwen3_engine_tool_parser",
    "Qwen3EngineToolParser",
),

Originally, qwen3_coder was used for Qwen3 tool calling.

vLLM later introduced the new Streaming Parser Engine to unify reasoning and tool-call parsing, including Qwen3.

In the current source, both qwen3_coder and qwen3_xml map to the same Qwen3EngineToolParser, so they are effectively aliases.

I use qwen3_xml because the latest vLLM recipe uses that name and it more clearly represents Qwen3’s XML-based tool-call format.

This is my understanding of it, but it may change again in the future, or I may have misunderstood something.

Ah ok, and any reason why it forces you to download the model beforehand?

For convenience, this is provided as a recipe, so feel free to modify and adapt it to suit your needs.

Oufff got memory bombed.

For those of you reading, beaware. Turning off PLE on vLLM won’t just download the model. It will allocate memory before downloading the model.

To make this model more practical to use on a single DGX Spark, I optimized it once again specifically for DGX Spark, this time based on vLLM 0.29.

Compared with the previous version, both prefill performance and inference speed have improved, and the quality evaluation results have also improved.

In particular, I focused on improving both performance and output quality when using SSD offloading.

However, because multi-node performance was not a focus of this optimization effort, the performance gains in multi-node inference were minimal, aside from improvements in prefill performance.

If you find this helpful, I’d really appreciate it if you could give the project a star!

Qwen3.8-Flash-Next QAD on a single GB10 — 95/100 Tool Eval

I successfully deployed local-inference-lab/Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-NVFP4 on a single ASUS Ascent GX10/GB10 using the latest MiaAI-Lab single-Spark vLLM recipe.

Configuration

  • vLLM 0.1.dev20073+g8e685d198
  • Native context: 262,144
  • MTP depth: 3
  • FP8 KV cache
  • BF16 recurrent/SSM state
  • PLE mmap with CPU offload
  • Full decode CUDA graphs
  • MAX_NUM_SEQS=8
  • MAX_NUM_BATCHED_TOKENS=8192

Benchmark

Tested with tool-eval-bench in Hard Mode:

tool-eval-bench.exe `
  --base-url "http://192.168.0.25:8000" `
  --model "local-inference-lab/Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-NVFP4" `
  --parallel 1 `
  --timeout 600 `
  --max-turns 12 `
  --hardmode `
  --seed 42 `
  --temperature 0 `
  --backend-kwargs '{"reasoning_effort":"xhigh"}'

Result

  • Score: 95/100
  • 81 passed, 3 partial, 4 failed
  • 165/174 points
  • Median turn: 4.7 seconds
  • Total tokens processed: 637,347
  • Completion rate: 98.9%
  • Total benchmark time: 1,741 seconds

TC-45 was excluded because the current vLLM endpoint does not strictly enforce tool_choice="required".

Overall, this QAD checkpoint with the Mia runtime works very well for tool calling on a single GB10 system.

FWIW, my INT4 custom model matches that result with much faster speed (wall-clock time and tok/s) when using default xHigh thinking chat template. When using medium, you should expect ~92 in tool-eval-bench but even faster wall-clock time.
