but rt5640 still doesn’t produce any sound

There are lot of things to be set right before you get sound!
like AUD_MCLK, Volume unmuted etc

Search in this forum for audio related threads and it helps to fix the issue.

Hello! Looking at the pinmux spreadsheet you will see that I2S1 on the module maps to DAP3 on the Tegra SoC and so yes I2S3 is the correct interface. Regards, Jon
