It seems that the number of operations in one kernel is limited. But I forgot where I read it, does anyone know the exact number?

Thanks!

I am not an expert in computer science. What is an instruction on earth? How many instructions are there if I do adding or dividing?

(Re)read section 5.4 of the programming guide. It gives an overview of arithmetic instructions and instruction throughput.
