Your DGX Dashboard itself uses 12% CPU and 128 MB Ram

Is it normal that the DGX Dashboard itself uses 12% CPU and 128MB Ram just to show
two stats?

I used to have a dgx dashboard open at every virtual desktop but I noticed my CPU was soon at 100% all the time.. and it turns out that the DGX Dashboards consumed it.

I am asking cause I like to make good use out of the RAM, GPU and CPU and get rid of the unnecessary consumers.

No one will ever need more then 640KB or RAM ;-)

People use the dashboard? 🤣

Besides for software updates there isn’t much use of it.

Don’t forget dgx-dashboard-admin.service which consumes even more resources.

One of my first projects with my AI was to build a better and lighter weight Dashboard. It seems to evolve with every new model. I thought everyone had done this?

I have mainly used Ubuntu commands

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

for phased packages
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade -o APT::Get::Always-Include-Phased-Updates=true

and for firmware check either Ubuntu’s firmware program or
New DGX OS 7.4.0 - #35 by Balaxxe ?

and since the the beginning of this year no issues at all :-).

For sensor readings I use mainly uvx nvitop.

I do not know why we need the dashboard at all?

Instead of NVIDIA spending time developing the dashboard and collecting data it would be better to upgrade the OS to Ubuntu 26.04 Lts, the latest NVIDIA GB10 driver and the latest CUDA version :-).
