Hallo,I am testing CX6 and CX7 RoCE card, mlx5_core driver is complierd from linux-6.6.1.
I find that the corresponding firmware version for linux-6.6.1 is 28.38.1002 for CX7 and 20.38.1002 for CX6. But the download page said 28.38.1002 for CX7 is not recommanded(in fact I can’t download this. Is there also a critical issue in 20.38.1002 for CX6 and I need to use 20.39.1002 for my CX6 card?
Could you please give me some advice about this two RoCE card. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for posting your query on NVIDIA Community.
I would like to inform that the decision to use a specific FW is not dependent on the kernel in use, however, it is dependent on the driver version in use to ensure compatibility with the driver along with the connecting component’s(example switch) software version in use.
In general, to ensure all bug fixes are in place, we recommend to use the latest driver(DOCA OFED) and latest FW. Note that the DOCA OFED version to use should also be compatible with the running kernel/OS version.
Also, there is no critical issue with 20.38.1002. Below is an example as we do not have complete information on the PSID of the ConnectX-6 and ConnectX-7 in use at your end. If these are OEM PSID’s, you will need to reach out to the OEM vendor to confirm on the same. You can check the PSID of the card using “ibv_devinfo -v |grep board”
