Debian 11 - Black screen after installing Nvidia drivers on Asus TUF Dash F15 RTX 3070 Laptop

Hello,

I had a fresh installation of Debian 11 on the laptop mentioned in the title. Walked through all the steps described in https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers, and here. I also have the CUDA 11.4 installed following these pages. But, ended up with a black screen after rebooting.

The Nvidia bug report is attached to this post. Also, regarding the topics that the hero of the forum mentioned here I changed:

xrandr --setprovideroutputsource modesetting NVIDIA-0 && xrandr --auto

to

xrandr --setprovideroutputsource NVIDIA-G0 modesetting && xrandr --auto

And that’s all I changed from the Debian.org tutorials. Though, in both cases, it didn’t work.

which display manager are you using? SDDM?
Is the screen completely black or do you see a mouse cursor?

GDM (Gnome)

I followed this part to set it up for GDM:

https://wiki.debian.org/NVIDIA%20Optimus#GNOME_Display_Manager_.28GDM.29

No cursor!

Debian 11 is outdated and can’t be used on a modern hybrid graphics notebook with a current cpu. Please use any other distro.
