Freezing after unlock on Ubuntu 22.04 and above

Hello, I upgraded my GPU to an NVIDIA GeForce 4070. I have true the nvidia-driver-525 and nvidia-driver-535 driver packages from Ubuntu. On versions of Ubuntu from 20.04 to the most recent.

The issue is that no matter the Desktop Environment. What I find is if my system locks and I unlock it. The gui will freeze for 30 seconds to 5 minutes and then it’ll come back fine. This issue doesn’t exist in Windows 10 or when I use the nouveau driver.

Now I work in Linux as my career. So I have tried to really dig in. But I get nothing. There’s no logs or any indication that it’s happening. atleast to my eyes.

I never had this issue before and it’s making things a real pain.

any ideas are appreciated.

I currently do use the gnome-session-flashback environment. But i’ve tried others and have the same issue.

This is a new build with a new psu too.

I do get a ton of errors like so in my logs.

These are from a week or more ago and I am still getting issue. I believe these have occured when I had VLC open on my 2nd righthand screen and it froze.

also wondering if this could be related

Does anybody have any ideas, still facing the issue.

Did you check with the 550 driver meanwhile?
