I have been going crazy with compatibility issues with RTX 5080 driver installation in Ubuntu 25.04. Nvidia website says use driver: NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-570.169 (with 24.4 and no recommendation for 25.04 although).
12.9.1 says use nvidia 575.57.08 (CUDA Toolkit 12.9 Update 1 - Release Notes — Release Notes 12.9 documentation).
nvidia 570.168 comes with Cuda 12.8 under nvidia-smi and cuda says 12.8.1 is compatible with nvidia 570.124.06 onwards..
I cannot make 575.57.08 work as screen freezes..
I am not an expert in linux, but I have tried alternatives searching websites as I could, can anyone help
Looking at the 12.9.1 Installation Guide, Ubuntu 25.04 is not supported.
Finally it worked today.. Just follow this URL from a fresh 25.04 install
Note the comment section - It works..
