Nvidia-persistenced[1176]: Failed to query NVIDIA during gaming

Hello, I have an NVIDIA 4060 video card on linux mint:

Operating System: Linux Mint 22.2
Kernel: Linux 6.14.0-33-generic
Architecture: x86-64

and I have the error:

16:43:45 *** nvidia-persistenced[1176]: Failed to query NVIDIA devices. Please ensure that the NVIDIA device files (/dev/nvidia*) exist, and that user 122 has read and write permissions for those files.

16:43:45 *** systemd[1]: Failed to start nvidia-persistenced.service - NVIDIA Persistence Daemon.

16:43:48 *** lightdm[1299]: gkr-pam: couldn’t unlock the login keyring.

16:43:52 *** systemd[1]: Failed to start casper-md5check.service - casper-md5check Verify Live ISO checksums.

16:43:54 *** lightdm[1441]: gkr-pam: unable to locate daemon control file

I saw on the forum the issue during the startup process, but in my case I have it during gameplay. It happens randomly, but in most cases just when I play a game. I caught it just one time when I watched a video in chrome browser. Usually during gameplay, my PC freezes, not responding to the mouse or keyboard, and plays the last ~0.2 seconds of sound from a game in a cycle. I don’t have the issue under Windows on the same PC, and don’t have the issue in the same games on my laptop with an NVIDIA graphics card. Sometimes games just crashes, in this case, I wasn’t able to find the error in the logs.

I measured the temperature during the games with PSensor and it never reached over 75°C.

I’ve been having the issue during the last half of the year on different kernels and drivers.

Can someone help me with the issue?

Thanks.

hello, is it what did you asked for?

Hi @wizzard.cl_nvidia , there should be a file named nvidia-bug-report.log.gz generated in your working directory when you ran the command. Could you please help to attach it here, thanks.
