Question to NVIDIA about MLX5 driver

Is there any downside in installing newer Mellanox drivers from doca-repo repository?

sudo apt install doca-repo
sudo apt update
sudo apt install doca-roce

These are newer and change roceXXX naming to mlx5_X naming for the IB interfaces, but other than that seem to function the same.

The question is whether there are any GB10 specific optimizations in default drivers?

We do not support those specific drivers directly. The inbox kernel drivers are already optimized for GB10 so there is no need to install doca

I want to use libxlio, but there is no way to install it without pulling other DOCA stuff…

The drivers are not actively validated so our team cannot really help with specific questions. It “should” work but I would recommend getting help on the drivers and DOCA forums for specific questions

Thanks, makes sense. But I’d also would like to know if there is anything special about inbox kernel drivers, like any GB10 specific optimizations that are not present in the mainstream modules?

I’m not sure on the specifics but they are built specifically to work with the Spark hardware which other drivers don’t necessarily build towards
