i create RB-Load for Jetson Orin NX. It is a multi-parallel thread application designed for stress testing NVIDIA Orin SoCs (System on Chip). The tool allows you to fully load either all ARM CPU cores, all GPU cores, or both simultaneously under controlled conditions. It is especially useful for developers and engineers who need to assess the performance, stability, and thermal characteristics, particularly in demanding environments. Its a 240kb static binary. Release the source in september.
Hope you find it usefull and it can help you during your development as it did for us for several years.
Thanks Gary, very useful! This would be especially handy developing cooling solutions or testing battery packs. My devkits are hoping to be spared the workout 👀😂
Yeah, we doing our best to optimize the case size and run hundreds of thermal simulations for all Jetson models. I’m hoping to cool the AGX Orin 64 enough so that it fits under my desk and can handle running several next-gen AI models like Flux :)
Here you see in a YT video how it works:
First, we run simulations to predict thermal behavior. Then, we install and calibrate thermal cameras, push the system to 100% load with rbload, and gather data to compare the simulation results with real-world measurements. If we identify any areas for improvement, we refine the design and restart the process. Once we’ve found an optimal solution, we use CNC machines to produce new cooling components, comparing the effectiveness of aluminum versus copper.
This is the result of your NPM partner day and the “party” at the GTC , Santa Clara where I had the opportunity to talk to such great people from the Jetson ecosystem. It’s a work of hundreds of the best engineers in the world that we now get to work with. Their to give more cool stuff opensource back as fast as i can.
