So now that I have finally been able to reflash my Xavier NX back to JP 4.6.1, I am told that I cannot use 4.6.1 . So I will attempt to upgrade JetPack once again just to eliminate any chance that its me. Please advise me on the best way to upgrade. Shall I use the SDK manager (versions?) on my ubuntu host (Is 20.04 ok?), or apt or reflash from SD and which would you prefer I use JP 5.0 or 5.1?

Flashing Xavier NX dev kit (has fresh 4.6.1 install on it with no mods) and it fails when flashing to 5.0 using SDKM 1.8.0.10363 Rendering the unit unusable. See error log below. Along with the images that lead up to the error.

I think this may be syntax error in the bootloader files located within the /Linux_for_Tegra/bootloader/ Dir. Look at logs.

Test #3 I now tried using the 5.01 disc boot Image. See below
Result was that the Xavier NX would not boot at all = black screen. No intro screen boot text… nada.
Test #4 I now tried using the 4.6.1 disc boot Image. See below
Result was that the Xavier NX booted up perfectly fine.
But again I have been told that I cannot use Riva with JP < 5.0.
So guys lets figure this out. How in the heck do I get JP >= 5.0 on my Xavier NX so that I can use Riva 2.3.0?

This is what I found.
I can use SDKmanger to flash jetpack 4.6 or jetpack 5.01 successfully including all extra tools to Jetson NX SSD. I found if I use manual config after flash it works better than trying to config user and passwords from SDK manger.
I have also found that I haven’t been able to get Jetpack 4.5 or 5.0 to flash using SDKmanager
@Out_of_the_BOTS Did you reset your NX with J14 pin before flashing to 5.01 through SDKM? Im going to make one last attempt and if you had success Id like to duplicate your method and settings.
Yes I power-down the Jetson then set the jumper then reconnect power then connect the USB cable to host computer then run SDKmanger on host computer. I select Jetjack 5.01 and developer tools and select the Jetson Xavier NX developer kit version. Once the OS has downloaded and built I select manual config and flash to NVMe

Well I have very good news. Today I ran my >10th sd flash install of JetPack 5.0.1 on my NX Dev Kit and low and behold it worked! (so far) . It was very slow booting up and the fan is working really hard, but I do have my focal 20.04 Ubuntu start screen! As of right now it seems to be struggling with some update installs. Keep this open for a bit longer until I have time to test further. If this works out, the next step is to see if JP 5.0.1 and Riva 2.2.0 will play nicely together those results will be posted in the Riva section of the Forum.
