I have a Tesla M60 that I’m going to use in a VMWare 6.5 environment to a Citrix XenApp 6.5 environment. I plan on passing through the card to a VM.

Do I need anything special on the ESXi side or will a simple passthrough work?

Nvidia has instructions for installing the Virtual GPU Manager on the ESXi level and they state that the Guest VM must use the same version. What’s the purpose of the Virtual GPU Manager? Would pass-through work without it?

Hi,

with Passthrough there is no need for installing the vGPU manager. But have in mind you will need vApps licenses no matter if you run the GPU in Passthrough or vGPU mode.
