Update RHEL kernel from 8.4 to 8.7, no longer have a graphical display

I recently updated the kernel on my workstation from 8.4(.305) to 8.7 (.425) and after a reboot I was not seeing the gnome display manager so that I could log in. I’m able to change to a non-graphical log in and continue logging in that way.

I rebooted a second time to go into the previous 8.4 kernel expecting to have graphics but to my surprise, I did not.

Not super savy with linux but saw that with lsmod I could see what drivers are loaded, I did not see anything related to graphic or nvidia.

Any help on where to begin troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

How did you initially install the nvidia driver?
