Can someone post anything about this product please? I’m in a holding pattern for something that fits my budget but may not even fit my workflows. Meanwhile I can buy a Mac this afternoon that will absolutely fit my budget and workflow. I don’t want to snooker myself but I also can’t keep waiting. Time is money. Some justification for this loss, in good faith, would be nice.

Just like you I had saved up to buy 2 DGX Sparks for a project I am working on, and Nvidia have just ignored us, I am now considering adding £2k and get the top of the range Max Studio with 512GB Unified Memory.

I did a bit more research and it appears the DGX Spark is not the hardware for my workloads. Nor is the Apple, for that matter. I’ll wait for 6k, 4.5k, and 2k Blackwells to show up in inventories.

“What are you waiting for?” Feel free to watch the play “Waiting for Godot”.

seems to be the better approach

My question regards onboard RAM memory. During the delay, Apple has an option that provides a machine with more and faster memory (128 DGX vs 512 M3U). Will NVIDIA provide a larger memory for the DGX machine as obsolescence will descend quickly. I was initially very excited about the DGX machine. However, like all things in this industry, obsolescence can happen fast. In this case, the now limited memory and bandwidth of 128gb make it susceptible to apple’s machine. However, Apple simply cannot hold up in raw compute in the ML/Ai environment yet. I am funded for 2 DGX machines and have asked if there is possibility to daisy chain up to 4 and have received mixed responses. The M3 Ultra’s higher memory bandwidth (819 GB/s vs. 273 GB/s) and larger maximum capacity (512GB vs. 128GB) give it an edge for running massive models on a single device, while the DGX Spark’s clustering capability allows for scalable memory in multi-device setups. It’s clear that the DGX machine will still outperform the Apple chip, but it will not last for long as Apple will run out the M4 model soon.

I got this announcement in my e-mail as well. Can you please confirm that this also applies to those of us that booked an Asus Ascent GX10 via NVIDIA?

The raw ALU of the DGX Spark is like a RTX 5070. The memory speed of a DGX Spark is pretty anemic – much less than a RTX 5060, and less than a high-end PC CPU memory bus. (E g, Threadripper) The power consumption also seems very high – much higher than previous Jetson/AGX options, so mobile solutions will have real battery and cooling challenges. The one thing it has going for it is 128 GB of addressable RAM from a CUDA application. This isn’t nothing, but I’m starting to doubt whether it’ll be worth $4k, because there’s seemingly no particular niche it will be best at?

I know what you mean, I am in the first 1000 reservations to get one, and my project is on hold untill the elusive release date, I wish they had kept us better informed, we are being treated like mushrooms, kept in the dark, and fed nothing to help us.

Crag are you saying you already received it?
