56Gb/s without a switch ?

I’m using 2 Mellanox MCX354A-FCBT VPI adapters in 2 PCs. These are connected directly without a switch for a “point to point” connection.

The speed is 40Gb/s, configured as ETH. QUESTION: is it possible without using a switch to configure the NICs to 56Gb/s ?
